At the annual Marine Insurance Day in New York on October 1, 2010 FHM partner Gina Venezia presented a program entitled Tightening the Knot – Existing U.S. Laws Prohibiting Trade with Iran and Their Expansion under CISADA. The presentation provided an explanation of the recent increased U.S. sanctions on trade with Iran, which have extra-territorial effect and raise many issues for world shipping. Marine Insurance Day is jointly sponsored by the American Institute of Marine Underwriters, the American Marine Insurance Forum, the Association of Average Adjusters of the U.S., the Marine and Insurance Claims Association, and the Marine Claims and Recovery Forum, with the U.S. Maritime Law Association co-sponsoring the event for CLE purposes.
