On January 16, 2016 the International Atomic Energy Agency verified that Iran has fulfilled its commitments under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action to curtail its nuclear program. As a result, the United States has lifted the nuclear-related secondary sanctions that had been imposed against Iran.
